GOLF MK1 GTI PIRELLI
The Golf Mk1 GTI Pirelli Edition is a special edition trim of the Volkswagen Golf Mk1 GTI. It was introduced in 1983 to celebrate the brand's victory in the World Rally Championship with the Pirelli-sponsored Golf GTI.
The Pirelli Edition featured various upgrades over the standard GTI model. It had revised suspension settings, including stiffer springs and dampers, to improve handling and performance. The track was also widened to enhance stability during cornering.
In terms of styling, the Pirelli Edition boasted unique Pirelli P-Slot alloy wheels with the iconic Pirelli tire tread pattern on the sidewalls. It was available in a distinctive metallic color scheme, including silver and mars red.
Inside, the sports seats were upholstered in a combination of red cloth and black leatherette with the Pirelli logo stitched into the headrests. It also had a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a GTI logo horn pad.
Under the hood, the Pirelli Edition was powered by a 1.8-liter fuel-injected engine, producing around 112 horsepower. It had a top speed of 118 mph and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 9 seconds.
The Golf Mk1 GTI Pirelli Edition is highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors due to its limited production and unique features. It holds a special place in the history of Volkswagen's iconic Golf GTI lineup.
